Senior night for the basketball team was all most people could talk about at lunch on Thursday. With a couple of exceptions, like Brianna Walker.
"How'd your first stream go?" Saber Johnson asked.
"It went...well! Really well. Almost too well," Brianna giggled.
"What do you mean?"
"Well, have you ever heard of a streamer breaking 2,000 viewers on his first day?"
"What!?" Ambrose Levine exclaimed in surprise.
"I don't know how, but I did. I didn't think that many people wanted to watch a boy in a Cloudia wig play Final Fantasy VII."
"You gotta be kidding me. And what do you mean by too well?" Lucy Corinth asked.
"Well, I got some strange comments in chat. Some of them seemed like girls just looking for a good time, but, like... People thought I was a girl for some reason. My channel says CRPG_Boi_ on it. How could they miss it!?"
"That is weird," Saber replied, tilting her head. Lucy started squirming a bit at the table, uncomfortable. "What did they say?"
"Someone thought it was a mod to the game. Someone else asked me if I had a boyfriend. There were some people in there who definitely weren't keeping up with their gaming industry news. One of them asked who in the world would name their son Brianna," he added hesitantly, a little misty-eyed at the insult even the next day.
"You OK?" Saber worried.
"What sort of question IS that!?" Brianna yelled, almost angrily.
After a moment of silence, Lucy Corinth spoke up. "Oh my!" she uttered in the middle of a bite of her food.
"What? Why the delayed reaction?"
"Could it—could it be..." Her eyes went wide.
"Could it be what?"
"Oh my gosh you're all gonna think I'm crazy but... I might be able to explain this."
"What do you mean?"
"Y'all like magic stories? Strange ones you can't explain?"
"...Sure, why?"
"What if I told you that they're coming from an outside world not affected by a wish that was made right here at this school?"
"You can't be serious."
"Dead serious."
"She's mentioned something like this to me but I keep forgetting to look into it," Saber added.
"Have any of you wondered what a world would be like if girls had breasts?"
"Ohmygosh ohmygosh!" Brianna exclaimed, looking around at all the flat-chested girls at school. I can't imagine Ash with breasts, he thought to himself.
"Don't wonder, because that was the outside world. Until Tuesday of last week. You just don't know it because...well, that's just the way things go."
"So...wait. You used to have breasts?" Brianna asked, slowly processing things.
"I was a cheerleader. That kind of sums up what the world became. I had a period. I was, by our standards, a boy. No wonder they called you a girl, because that's what girls were."
"And boys were...like girls?"
"Yeah, though things here are a little more...extreme. And it's not completely a swap, either."
"I'd say you were delusional, but not after experiencing that chat last night. No wonder I got so many subs. I must have been a real curiosity," Brianna added. Not sure how I feel about that... "Would anyone else know about this...wish?"
"There are people who know, but if you want to hear it straight from the horse's mouth," Lucy explained, "you want to speak with that woman." She pointed at Nic Forsyth, whose arm was draped around Rose Flowers. "Judging by who she's with, she's having a good time over there, that's for sure. And next time, let me know before you stream. I'll mod your chat. Things are gonna be interesting."
