“Ow!” Linda whined softly as Mikey barged into the kitchen.
“Out of the way dork.”
“Mikey! That’s no way to talk to your mother.” Zoe admonished. She went over to Linda to check if she was alright.
“Whatever,” Mikey replied rolling his eyes, “and stop calling me Mikey. That’s a kid’s name, my name is Michael.”
Zoe raised a brow as she helped Linda into her seat and pour her some cereal. “Well if you want to be called Michael that’s fine…but you are going to treat every member of this family with respect.”
“Yeah, sure, fine,” Mikey replied “That’s just my nickname for her…she’s fine with it.”
Zoe frowned and looked at Linda who looked for all the world that she wasn’t fine with it.
“Well, she may be fine with it, but I’m not. And I don’t want to hear it again.”
Mikey rolled his eyes again and grabbed a breakfast bar. “I’m going to meet up with my girlfriend,” he announced.
“You can’t at least stay for breakfast with the family?”
Mikey groaned.
“I just had dinner with you last night.” He insisted and with that, he stomped out of the kitchen leaving Zoe standing there.
“Why is he always mean to me?” Linda whined breaking the silence. Zoe shook her head.
“I don’t know, sweetheart.”
