Linda searched his entire room, but still couldn't find his shoes.
"Where are they?" he asked, getting frustrated.
"Honestly, Linda," his "new" mother said. "I don't know how you could find anything in this room. Didn't I tell you yesterday to clean it up?"
Linda groaned. "I was busy."
"You're always busy. What exactly are you doing with your friends?"
Linda groaned again. "Why does it matter?" He walked out into the hall and into his sister's room. "Jonny, did you take my shoes?"
"Leave your sister alone, Linda," his mom said.
"She's taken things before," Linda said.
"Leave her alone. Go back to your room."
Linda groaned and did as his mother said. But he didn't like it.
Benny walked into the Madison's house and passed an eight year old girl dressed like an adult woman. She was in the kitchen, drinking a cup of coffee. Oddly, she seemed familiar to Benny. For a moment, he even thought that she was his sister, but she didn't look anything like Jonny. The more he thought about it, though, the less certain he was. Did he even have a sister? It was hard to remember.
He shook his head, clearing it, then walked upstairs to one of the bedrooms. He had more important things to do than daydream and let his mind wander.
