Katashi walked into the Brewer home. None of the overweight whites inside noticed him entering through the front door and walking upstairs into Gladys' bedroom. Although Katashi was an adult, he was teenage Gladys' height, so her clothes didn't fit as poorly as they would have on nearly all other men in Lake Point. He weighed less than her, so the material of Gladys' blouse and jeans shrunk to match his shape. He felt odd. His bra wasn't supporting as much weight as usual. Walking downstairs wasn't the ordeal it normally was for him. Maybe his diet was working after all. Determination was the key to weight loss, and he had it now.
He sat with his family at breakfast, oblivious to the plump girl whose chair he had just taken. A mountain of pancakes lay in front of him. So tempting ... but he had the will power to say no.
