Zoe ran over to her mom and blocked her way. "Mom? Where are you going?" she asked her.
The strange woman who had put on Zoe's mother's clothes walked down the stairs. "To breakfast," she answered. "I told you I was starving." When she walked into the kitchen, she looked oddly at Zoe, then said "Zoe, dear. Come back in here and finish your breakfast."
"But ..."
"Do as your mother says," her father said. Then Zoe watched as the woman bent down and kissed her father.
Her real mother pushed past her and walked out of the house.
"Don't you see her?" Zoe asked her father.
"See who?" he asked, then turned to the woman who thought she was Zoe's mother. "Do you know what she's talking about, dear?"
"No idea," she answered.
Zoe pointed straight at her mother. "Her. Right there."
Her father got up slightly and looked. "Sorry, Zoe. I don't see anyone. Now come back to the table. Your breakfast is getting cold."
What should Zoe do? Stay or try to stop her mother?
