"Well, maybe you should ponder on it later, on your way to work," Zoe said.

"Yeah, maybe you're right ... wait, work? Don't you mean 'school'?" Jon asked.

"Why would you go to school?" Zoe asked, giggling, very unlike her. Or was it? Jon was having a hard time noticing what was different. He knew things were changing, because of that careless wish he made, but for some reason, the more time that passed, the harder it was for him to notice what was changing. Take Zoe, for instance. She was wearing a skirt suit, typical office-wear. She did, after all, work at a law office. But something about that seemed wrong. Zoe wasn't old enough to work at a place like that. Wasn't she younger than him? Wasn't Jon supposed to be a high school student?

"Earth to Jon," Zoe said, waving her hand in front of her brother's face. "Maybe you need this coffee more than me."

"Huh?" Jon uttered, coming out of his thoughts. He turned towards Zoe, barely having any time to prepare himself, like last time, when she suddenly kissed him on the lips. His own sister!

"You look so cute that way, you know that?" she said, then giggled.

"Eww," came the voice of Jon's mother. He looked over at her and saw her standing at the entrance of the kitchen. But instead of wearing a robe or nightgown, she was dressed in a Pokemon T-shirt and boys briefs. Wasn't that something Jon's little brother Mikey would wear?

"Oh, Mother," Zoe said, rolling her eyes. "Kissing isn't anything gross. When you get to my age, it'll be the only thing on your mind ... well, among other things, but you're not the right age to know about those things yet."

Okay, now Jon was even more confused than before. Zoe was acting like she was way older than their mother, and their mother was acting like a young boy. In fact, she was acting like Mikey. All of these strange occurrences happening at once seemed to make the changes more clear to Jon, but would his awareness of the changes begin to fade, after a bit?

"Out of the way, dork," Mikey said, pushing past his mother.

"Mikey, that's no way to talk to your mother," Zoe admonished.

"Whatever," said the young boy, rolling his eyes. He was dressed in a black T-shirt and black pajama bottoms (with a pattern of white skulls scattered about).

Jon realized what must have been happening! It was like his family had switched places (or maybe they were still switching places?). Zoe was like their mom, their mother was like Mikey, and Mikey was like Zoe, but they were all still themselves, physically, at least. But wait, what about Jon? Was he still supposed to be himself? That didn't explain why Zoe kept kissing him. If Zoe was supposed to be the "mother", then she wouldn't kiss Jon any more than a sister would kiss him. But there was no one else in his family ... except his dad. But he was dead. Right?
