Melony Tyne, suddenly in a trance, left clothes in front of her open locker and drifted away to find her new identity at another locker.
Yukio, no longer a Meshida, put on Melony's dress. Since both girls loved cuteness, their clothes weren't too different, apart from their colors. Melony had been wearing a bright, intense blue that contrasted with her mocha skin. Yukio, on the other hand, had been wearing an icy pink that complemented her pale golden complexion. Yukio's new attire didn't suit her Asian skin or figure ... at first.
She walked to the exit and started to think of herself as Jackie O. Tyne. She had never liked the name Yukio anyway, not that she ever had it in this new reality. It was normally a boys' name in Japan. What had her parents been thinking? She had no idea then and she would have no idea now, since her new parents were blacks who spoke almost no Japanese. Her father had once been stationed in Japan years ago before she was born but he didn't soak up the language and had long ago forgotten what little he had picked up. Jackie O now knew as much Japanese as Melony used to ... random slang from manga and anime plus some actual grammar and basic vocabulary from first-year Japanese.
She walked past the Japanese 1 classroom where she had once helped out as Yukio. Jackie O was looking forward to seeing exchange student Eri - once Felicia - Meshida assist Nakahashi-sensei later today. The boys thought of Eri as ... what was the word? "Utsukushii" - beautiful. That was so hard for Jackie O to say. "Kawaii" - cute - was so much easier. It fit her as Yukio, and it still fit her now as Jackie O.
