As Athena Duncan left the computer lab at the high school, her transformation finally completed, making her 100% male. And thus, her name changed to Anthony.
"Hey, Anthony," said Carl James, one of his friends, on his way out of the room. "Are we still having study group later tonight?" Typically, Anthony and a bunch of other nerds and geeks got together and studied at the downtown library.
"Actually ... I was thinking of playing Dungeons & Dragons with Leonard," he said.
"Really? I didn't know you were into that," Carl said.
"I'm not, but he asked me if I wanted to and ... well ... I thought it sounded like fun, actually." Anthony had no idea where this desire to play D&D; was coming from. He was never interested in RPG's (of any kind) before. But when Leonard asked him to play ... he suddenly got interested all of a sudden.
Unknown to Anthony, this sudden desire stemmed from his original life as Athena DeVries, who was interested in the occult and magic. Athena's interest in those topics had bled through into her new life as an interest in all-things fantasy. And that included, among other things, Dungeons & Dragons.
"Well, have fun, I guess," Carl said, then the two of them parted ways.
