Michelle watched as the blond girl entered what looked like a trailer home and then moments later watched as an emo boy exited from the same place. Just like the blond girl, whose name she knew was Amber (she wasn't a close friend of Michelle's, but they were both on the cheerleading squad), the boy had a glassy-eyed look about him. He walked along the street, then turned a corner out of view. She thought about following him, but stopped when she heard the front door of the trailer home open again. She turned and saw Amber. But the girl was wearing the emo boy's clothes and was acting very downtrodden.
Amber had taken the boy's place. Just like Jon had taken Zoe's place and Mikey had taken Nicole's place.
This was out of control. Michelle knew that she couldn't put a stop to it, since she technically wasn't Mikey anymore, but she could do something else.
Thinking for a moment, she decided on a wish that could work. Then she took the stone out of her purse and clutched it, saying "I wish ..."
