As they left the house, Zelda stopped and looked across the street. She saw a girl she recognized as the friend of Zoe's brother Jon. Karyn, she believed her name was. But what caught her eye about the girl was the fact that she seemed to be walking irregularly. Almost like a zombie.
"Keep moving," Beth said, pushing her.
Zelda grunted. She didn't like getting pushed around. "Take it easy, will ya? I was just trying to figure out where I've seen that girl before."
"What girl?" Christine asked.
"That girl," Zelda said, pointing right at Karyn.
The twins looked in that direction. "There's no one there," they said, in unison.
"What?" She turned and looked again. Karyn was most definitely still there. "That blond girl right there," she said, pointing again, more forcefully this time.
"Are you trying to stall us for some reason?" Beth asked.
"Because it's not going to work," Christine said.
"Now, move it." Beth pushed Zelda again.
As they walked away from Linda DeVries' house, Zelda watched as Karyn walked into a nearby house that she was pretty sure wasn't hers.
