Mikey thought some more, then decided that his plan was the best and easiest idea. Without warning, he grabbed the pendant and pulled it off from around Zelda's neck. There was a brief spaced-out look in Zelda's eyes, and then she blinked.
"Where am I?" she asked. "Who are ..." But then she remembered. The boy sitting next to her was the little brother of her best friend Jen Gibson. "Why am I in your bedroom?" she asked. But then, as her eyes drifted down to herself, she asked "What the hell am I wearing?" She ran her hands over her latex bodysuit. It was the type of thing Molly would wear, not her.
"Listen, I know this is going to be hard to believe, but your name is Zelda Whitefield," Mikey said.
"No. My name is Zelda DeVries," she countered. "Now what happened to my clothes?"
Mikey grabbed his head, then looked up at her. "See this?" he asked, holding up the pendant.
"Where did you get that? That's mine."
"Actually, it's Athena's."
"Athena's?" Zelda asked, with a look of confusion. "Why would your sister have a magic pendant?"
"Because she's not my sister!" Mikey yelled. Then, settling down, he continued. "This pendant was protecting you from the changes in reality."
"Now you've lost me," Zelda said.
Mikey took a deep breath, then told her about the wishing stone, what he did with it, and how nearly everyone including Zelda herself had changed because of it. This is gonna take a while, Mikey thought, before telling her.
