Mikey quietly walked up the stairs and stopped just outside Jen's bedroom. Inside, he could hear Jen and Zelda talking.
"I wish there was a way that I could make people like me," Jen said.
"You want to be popular? Because that's ..."
"No, I don't want to be popular. I just want ... oh, forget it." She paused for a moment, then said that she wanted to be alone.
"Alone?" Zelda asked. She was hoping she could stay there for a little while longer. Since she now apparently had the original Athena's life, she was expected to go home to the original Athena's house. And she really didn't think she could do it. It would just be too weird, having Athena's parents acting as if they were her parents.
"Yes, just go home," Jen said. "I'll just see you tomorrow."
"But ..."
"Bye, Zelda."
Mikey sprinted into his bedroom and watched as Zelda came out into the hallway. She looked a little uneasy.
"I wish I knew why all these people were changing," she whispered to herself, as she walked towards the stairs.
Mikey's eyes went wide. How did she know people were changing? No one was supposed to know, except for Mikey.
