Athena walked mindlessly through the streets until she came to familiar house. It was the house that belonged to Jon and formerly to Zoe.
She walked upstairs and into Jon's former bedroom.
It was ironic. Athena wanted a way to stop people from taking other people's places, and now she had one. With the chain completed, no one would be looking for new clothes anymore. It's just that she never wanted to be part of the solution.
She took off her gothic clothes and walked to the closet, opening the doors.
She put on a pair of underwear, then socks. And then she put on a pair of jeans, a dark green T-shirt, and a pair of sneakers. Suddenly, her eyes cleared and she came out of her trance.
Immediately, she darted towards the hiding spot under the bed. She opened the box that was there, but what she was looking for was gone.
Karyn was eating her lunch during the second lunch period (there were so many students in the school that they had to have two lunch periods). Suddenly, her cellphone rang.
"Hello?" she asked.
"Karyn, it's me."
"Athena? Where are you?"
"I'm at home. I had a feeling that maybe ..."
"What? What is it?"
"It's gone."
"What's gone?" Karyn asked.
"What do you think? The stone. It's not here. Someone must have taken it."
"Who?"
"I don't know, but one person comes to mind."
"Who's that?"
"My brother. Who else? You know he's really into all that gothic stuff. You know, magic and the occult?"
"You think he stole it from you?" Karyn asked.
"Yes, I do. And I'm gonna get it back."
