On her way to her second class, Athena spotted Derek Lettman, still dressed in an oversized set of clothes. Gladys and the young woman who dressed like Biff stood by, mocking him. They called him an ugly cow, among other things.
Suddenly, Athena realized who Derek was replacing. It was Gladys Brewer. That was another link in the chain, but it still didn't help Athena find out who started all of this. For that, she'd have to do a little magic of her own. But it would be risky, and she'd really rather not do it.
But she could.
Before Athena entered her second period classroom, she watched as Gladys kissed the woman who pretended to be Biff. The woman was having a hard time getting her arms around Gladys' plump body, but it certainly didn't stop her from trying. And about Gladys' body - it didn't seem as blubbery as it was about twenty minutes earlier. Oh, she was still quite fat, but it looked as though she may have lost maybe ten or fifteen pounds. And the woman looked a little different too. Her hair was shorter and her muscles were more pronounced, but she was still definitely a woman.
After seeing Gladys and that woman and how Jon and Zoe were also changing, she came to the conclusion that anyone affected by this magic was not only dressing and acting like whoever they were pretending to be, but they were also changing physically. Would Jon eventually become Zoe? Athena didn't know.
