Mikey felt his skin tingle. The magic was changing him, too. Was it merely altering his clothes, giving him the outfit he would have worn if his mother had gone to college and gotten a better job? No, the changes permeated his entire body. As cell after cell mutated inside him, Mikey realized why.
His mother had met his father while she was working as a secretary.
And if she had gone to college ... if she hadn't worked as a secretary ... then they wouldn't have met ... and her children wouldn't have been the same ... if she even still had children at all.
Mikey was afraid to look in the mirror.
