Suddenly, Mikey watched as Fred became taller and older, then his body began to become more and more female until he was completely a woman. She walked towards Mikey and said "Mikey, honey. You forgot your lunch money." She took money out of her purse and gave it to him.
"You came all the way here just to give me lunch money?"
"Of course, dear." Mikey never knew what it was like to have a loving mother. His dad never did anything like this. After she gave him the money, she turned around and left the classroom, presumably going back home. To Mikey's home. That would be weird.
"Mikey, honey," a boy in the class teased.
"Shut up, Kevin," Mikey said. It seemed that although Fred was virtually gone, there were still bullies around to pick on Mikey. And this little scene with his "new" stepmother was just fodder for more teasing.
