It had apparently been more than a few hours of sleep, as Karyn came into Sally's room barely a minute later, scooping Jon up. "Ready to go, Jon? Oh, sorry... Crystal?" He looked up at her, confused. "Crystal? My name is Jon." She shrugged. "I thought you preferred Crystal since your accident that left you like that... alright, Jon. This is only your second week of school like this, sure you're okay?"
He shrugged in return. School? Like this? The outfit he picked out was fitting, then. He only hoped his teachers wouldn't protest his choice of clothing. It wasn't as if he had underwear anyway. School would definitely be an interesting experience. How would he write? Karyn held him in her open palm for most of the bus ride until she got tired and set him down in her lap. No one stared, but he supposed no one had even noticed him.
People definitely stared as he was put down on the top of his desk by Karyn, and he was given a copy of notes she wrote for him during each class. No one said anything until lunch. "Who's the little woman? She looks like a slut to me." Sarah McMillan walked up to them, staring down at Jon with a look of disgust. "Aren't you too old to be in school?"
Karyn answered for him, looking about ready to deck Sarah. "You know damn well who it is, bitch. Go away and leave him alone." Sarah looked at her, surprised, and backed away, snorting and trying not to appear scared. "Yeah, run away!" A well-thrown rock hit Sarah in the back, making her quicken her pace.
