While Mikey was cleaning up the yard, a car pulled up by the curb. It was that girl, Sarah, from Jon's school.
"Hey, brat!" she yelled with a smile on her face. "Is your brother or his loser girlfriend around I wanted to show them my new car!"
"I don't know where they are," said Mikey.
"Oh well, their loss. Do you wanna go for a ride?"
"I gotta pick up my stuff." He didn't tell her he wouldn't feel safe with her in her car.
"Aw, c'mon. I'll only charge you $5 for 100 feet," laughed Sarah. She had gotten out of the car.
"You want to make money giving people rides?" Mikey asked.
"Sure! I may even let you ride inside!"
"I've got a better idea," said Mikey. "Why don't you give me a ride outside."
Before Sarah could say anything, Mikey muttered something she couldn't hear. She found herself very stiff. Something was growing out of her stomach, something so heavy, she fell forward. But she didn't hit the ground. Instead, the thing on her stomach -- a platform, she realized -- fell flat and she found herself upheld horizontally above the ground. She couldn't move. Her arms were out in front of her, as if she were flying. And she noticed they had a sheen to them. A sheen of -- plastic?
Mikey continued working and smiled. "When I'm done, lady, I'll get some quarters from my piggy bank. And I'll ride you just like I ride the horse down in front of the Wal-Mart!"
