"Oh, shit," Connie said again in her new masculine voice. "What are we going to do, Mike? I really don't want to spend the rest of my life as a man."
Mike thought about the problem for a second. With Connie now male, his tranformation powers no longer worked on her. But maybe there was another solution. "I know," he told his girlfriend. "The rock gave me my powers. Maybe it can fix them so that I can change you back."
"The rock? Does your brother still have it?"
"I don't know for sure," he admitted, "but Jon's not the type to risk it falling into the wrong hands. So, if he doesn't have it handy, I'm sure he's got it hidden somwhere."
He went over and picked up the phone. After dialing, he waited for someone to answer. "Answering machine," he told Connie with a nod. At the beep, he left a message for Jon or Karyn to get in touch with him as soon as possible. "It's really important," he added, before hanging up.
"So, now what?" Connie asked.
"I guess we wait." Mike looked at the clock next to the bed. "Whoa! Look at the time. We've been up all night. I'm supposed to get the football team's equipment ready for practice this morning." He looked up at Connie. "You want to stay here?"
"No," she said. "I'll come with you. Got something for me to wear. I don't think that little dress would look good on me right now."
Mike found her something of his to put on. A few minutes later, both were dressed. They headed out of his room and down to the stadium.
