"Karyn?"
Karyn spun at her name to see Jon standing in the yard looking at her. She had been so worked up about her transformation into a human fountain that she hadn't noticed him come out his back door. "Glon!" she shouted, her words distorted by the rushing water coming from her mouth.
Jon stepped back to keep from getting wet, when the sound of a baby crying got his attention. He saw the little one lying on his mother's blouse over by the fence. "What the hell's going on here?"
Karyn just shook her head, sending a spray of water flying. "Naber main dap," she tried to say, seeing a possible way out of her predicament. "Gep di robk!"
"What?" he said, turning his head to hear her better. "I can't understand a word you're saying."
Karyn's eyes blazed. She had to make Jon understand. There was no way of knowing how long Mikey was going to be gone. The way she saw it, her only chance to get back to normal was the wishing stone.
