"Thanks, Karyn," Mikey smiled up at her. "Now, will you go keep my mom busy? I've got to go fix something."
"Sure thing, kid," Karyn answered. "We'll just let Sarah stay here for a little while. I'm sure the local dog population would like to get to know her better." She arched her eyebrows at him.
Mikey smiled back at her, getting her meaning. He turned to head for Mrs. Higgins. "Thanks a lot, Karyn," he called over his shoulder. As he crossed the yard, he said to himself, "That's girl the greatest. She's solid as a rock."
He took off around the corner of the house without looking back. So, he didn't see what his accidental statement had done. As she walked across Jon's yard, Karyn felt her arms grow heavy. In seconds, she couldn't move at all. Without meaning to, Mikey had transformed her again, turning her into a solid rock statue.
