Then, Janet woke up again, rubbing her head. "Huh? What happened?"
"I'm sorry, Mrs. McMillan," said Sarah. "You fainted."
"You're right, I did. I can't remember why any more. It had something to do with this rock..."
Sarah picked it up and looked at it. It was reddish in color and looked very ordinary. Then she shrugged and put it in her bag.
An hour later, Sarah checked her watch and realized: This was about when she should be phoning home.
She reached into her bag for the phone, but it was buried under some things. She ended up taking a few things out first, including the stone, which was now in her hand.
Sarah punched in the number for her parents in Korea--it was morning here, but it was bedtime for them--she hoped they weren't asleep already.
Someone answered and the familiar voice of her mother said "Hello".
"It's me, Sarah!"
"Huh? Who are you? I don't recognize you or this number..."
"Sarah? Your daughter?"
"I don't have a daughter! I just have a son, and he's ten years old!"
"B-- but... what's going on here? I wish I knew what's going on!"
Which told Sarah the answer, since she was holding the stone. "I'm terribly sorry," she said. "There's been a mistake." She hung up, almost crying, and then....
