Sarah was very happy with the first few choices she'd made concerning herself, but all those thoughts or growing old and death made her think of her mother. Sarah loved her mom very much and had inherited all her good looks from her. Mom's good looks were still shining even as she approached the Big Four-Oh. Still, Mom had never been the same since Dad died. She'd never shone quite as brightly. Sarah decided to bring back a little of her mother's glimmer.
8. My mom looks like she did when she was 25 years old, and will never look older than that.
Sarah smiled and imagined going out with her younger-looking mom, shopping in the same stores, clubbing and flirting with boys. She decided to add the same protection she'd chosen for herself, just in case:
9. My mom will never get sick or injured, or die suddenly in an accident.
But after Dad died, Sarah though, Mom's never been the same.
She'd found new companionship in Desmond Orr, Freddie's dad, but it just didn't feel right. Even after they all moved in together, the family didn't feel like a family, not like before.
Sarah didn't like Desmond trying to be a father to her, it always felt either patronising or just plain creepy. What's more, Sarah really didn't enjoy sharing her mother's affections with that twerpy little boy who was her step-brother. But Mom knew how she felt about Desmond and Fred and always asked her to try and accept things how they were now.
For just a moment, Sarah put some serious thought into fixing those problems here and now. Whether or not this test is real, Sarah had told herself to be honest, right?
