Having driven to college together, Jon and Karyn found when they arrived they were both assigned to single-sex dorms at the opposite ends of campus. Not surprised, but still disappointed, the pair said their goodbyes for the time being and each headed to their own dorm.
Jon unloaded his belongings from the car "“ a suitcase, two holdall bags and his laptop "“ and walked across campus to his new dorm.
Jon threw his luggage down on the floor to shake the hand of his new room mate, Todd Burke. Todd was quite obviously an athlete, a few inches taller and quite a bit more muscular than Jon. He was intimidated at first, but after a few minutes chatting Jon found his room mate was every bit the nerd he was when it came to gaming and sci-fi.
They shot the breeze while Jon unpacked and hung posters on the wall, before Todd realised he had to disappear. He needed to find out where to sign up for the college's wrestling club, his sport of choice.
Once he was alone in their shared dorm room, it was then that Jon suddenly noticed something unusual.
