Jon walked into the room and looked around. He didn't exactly understand what the machinery was, but he could figure out a few things. It had something to do with airflow over plane wings--just enough for Jon to know that the only people who would be interested in it were scientists and engineers--and it was gathering dust anyway.

Meanwhile, Sarah had said "Hi" to Karyn--she was nowhere near as snooty as she was years ago, though she couldn't be completely trusted either. Then she began unpacking, pretty much silently.

A loud buzz sound interrupted Sarah and she turned to look at the source of the noise. It was coming from Karyn's pocket. "Keep that thing down, will you, please?" said Sarah.

Karyn got her cell phone out of her pocket and answered, recognizing the number. "Hi... Jon, right?"

"Yeah, it's me, Karyn," replied Jon. "I was just wondering if you could bring the stone over."

"Bring it over?" replied Karyn. She still had to be careful not to mention the stone in front of Sarah, just in case. "Is something wrong?"

"No, I just got this idea. There's this room full of equipment in the physics building, that nobody uses. I was thinking of changing it."

"Changing it?" replied Karyn.

"Yeah. We can change it from a deserted storage room to an experiment. Everyone will think that the experiment was always going on, at least if they're in the wish range. There are all sorts of possibilities. Imagine if the scientists here at the university invented a robot, or a sex change machine, or something, and they're recruiting volunteers to test it. It could be anything. It doesn't even have to be physics."

"Are you sure that's wise?" asked Karyn.

"There are problems, but if we're going to use the stone to make strange things happen at all, we may as well happen with some kind of explanation, like it being an experiment."

"Well, I'll be right over, but we really need to talk about this more. Bye!"

"Your boyfriend?" asked Sarah.

"Yeah, but it's a long story. See you around!"

Karyn left the room with the stone and walked across campus to where she remembered the physics building was. It wasn't as hard to find as she had thought and soon she was there with Jon. "So what kind of experiment do you want to be going on at this university?"

"Well, you know... Karyn, I didn't think of one, really. Unless you want to go with my first ideas."

"Hmm. Then how about...."
