"About those dead relatives..." said Sarah.
"If there's someone you want brought back and it's someone you know well, tell me and I'll do it," replied Karyn. "If I just bring back everyone you can think of, I'll end up bringing back everyone who's known by someone who's known by someone who, and so on. I'm not going to bring back every person who died in history."
"Okay, fair enough," said Sarah.
"And if you want to be rich... wait a minute, I thought you are rich!"
"I'm not rich," insisted Sarah. "My parents are rich."
"Same answer, in a way," replied Karyn. "If you really need something, I'm sure we can work out a wish. But it's not for fun. We... you know, I really wonder how much more mature we are, and how much is just because I'm trying to act like I'm more mature. I'm sure that Jon will use it for fun sometime. But I shouldn't just give wishes away. You can keep the TV, though."
Sarah stared at the stone. It occurred to Karyn that she might try to take it and she prepared for the worst, but Sarah didn't make a move. Then after a minute of her sharp gaze, she told Karyn, "Karyn, I have one wish to ask for and I think you have a reason to give me this one. Make me forget about the stone."
"What?"
"Make me forget about the stone, Karyn! It's either that or we live in this dorm room with the power of... everything just barely out of my reach for a period of years. Could you stand to live like that? Because I don't know if I could."
"I never expected that you of all people would..."
"Just do it."
Karyn put the rock in her pocket and before letting it go, said "I wish Sarah would forget about this stone." She suddenly couldn't look directly at Sarah and blinked. Sarah was still there, with a slight look of confusion on her face. "I... never mind. What was I going to say? And no, that's not a bimbo act."
