"Are you really transforming?" asked Scott's mother? "Is it all true?"
"Of course it's true, Mom!" exclaimed Scott #1 (frmale).
"I wasn't asking you, I was asking your D---"
"Go ahead," said Scott #1. "You were asking my Dad. I'm me, you know I am."
"I was saying that because you have me thinking about it, it doesn't mean I believe you!"
"Then watch Dad."
"My hand..." said Scott's father. "My hand..." His hand was definitely the hand of that woman who had claimed to be his son when his son was standing right there. And his arm was getting thinner, too, and less hairier, and the skin slightly changed shade.
"I'm sorry, Dad," said Scott #1.
"Me too," said #2. She's right. Scott #1 glared at him for using the word "she" as #2 continued. "If we just put the amulet on you you could take it off a minute later before you changed enough to notice, and then you couldn't change for 12 hours. Don't worry, Dad. It's not permanent and what my... brother... said was right. Just find something you haven't worn for a while and add ten years to your life.
Scott's father stared at the two teenagers. "Your mother and I will need to figure this out. In the meantime, stay in your room."
"I can't blame them," said #1.
"Could you please put something on? You're distracting me."
"I'm wearing a shirt. I had enough time to get it on before Mom and Dad got in here."
"I can see your nipples."
"All right," said #1. She put the medallion on Scott's desk, then went over to the closet and searched for a sweater. She found a green one and put it on. "Urrg, this doesn't fit right."
"You look great," said #2. "Really hot."
"I never thought I'd be stared at by a brother I don't even have. It's too weird this way, change into a girl. We can be lesbians."
"I can't change until 6 PM," he replied. "Why don't you try again?"
"I just tried. My period isn't going to change that much in fifteen minutes."
"But there has to be some moment when it counts as having your period and some moment right after that when it doesn't. Maybe you just passed that moment.
"Hmm." #1 picked up the medallion again and said "Sure, it can't hurt to try," walking into the closet again. "Lemme see." She sat down besides Scott #2 and held out her arm, sweater sleeve rolled up. "I used a shirt, the arm should be first. Do you see any change?"
The arm did began to change, the hair turning dark, and in fact started to look more like Scott's... "Yeah," said #2, but the change soon stopped. A patch of hair that had turned dark had gone reddish again to go with the college girl's naturally red hair. "Never mind. We forgot, it does change a little but it doesn't stay. You know, even when you do change back, what are we going to do?"
"What do you mean?"
"There are two of us. I don't know if we can change into one person. If not, we're like this, forever. What do we tell everyone, that you're my cousin from out of town?"
"That you're my cousin from out of town?" replied the girl. "It's not as if there's an original and a duplicate. We're both us."
"Maybe one of us should stay a girl so everyone can tell us apart..."
"No!"
"Joke, joke."
They were interrupted when they heard some footsteps. "Hey, wait, brother" said #1, "I hear Mom and Dad. I wonder what they decided."
"Well, they shouldn't do anything to me, sister. It was you who transformed Dad after all."
"They don't think that way, and stop calling me that. Who calls anyone by a title anyway?"
"I don't have a name for you."
"You could try 'Scott'. It's not as if anyone's going to think you're talking to yourself."
Just then the door opened and there stood their mother, and a woman who looked just like Scott #1, wearing their dad's clothes....
