(Fixing the error again--#1 is the one who's stuck)

"Hmm..." said Scott #1. "I think I'm going to wait up here. I'll keep the medallion so I can keep trying to change back."

"Okay," said #2, "but you're going to get hungry, and it's boring waiting under the bed."

#2 set the alarm clock for 9 and they both tried as best they could to go back to sleep, so at least they didn't lose too much rest trying to do the change at 6 AM.

Several hours later, the alarm clock went off, waking #1 and #2. #2, getting up, quickly turned it off and left the room. Meanwhile, #1 had to wait while she could hear #2 shower, talk to their mother, walk around the house... #1, still a redheaded girl, could do nothing but stay under the bed, hungry and bored, while imagining the taste of orange juice and cereal in her mouth.

Meanwhile, #2, downstairs was eating just that.

"Did you hear something upstairs this morning?" asked Scott's mother. "I thought I heard people talking."

"No, not really" answered #2, while trying to think of a way to cover up #1's presence. "Well, I heard some voices outside the window though. It was strange, it was some kind of echo which made them sound loud even though nobody was nearby."

"I've never heard of anything like that," said Scott's dad.

Scott #2 crunched a few more spoonfuls of cereal, until his mother said "Wait. I hear something again."

"What?" said Scott #2. "I don't hear anything."

"I hear it too," said his dad. "It's hard to hear through the door, but I could swear I heard someone snoring. But there's nobody here." This was getting uncomfortably close to the truth. Scott #2 really hoped that #1 hadn't fallen asleep again, but it certainly sounded like she had.

"You don't need to look," said Scott #2. "There's nothing up there last time I checked."

"But we need to be sure!" said his father.

So Scott's parents ascended the stairs to the second floor where his room was. At the sound of the footsteps, Scott #1 woke up, but it was too late--she had to hide. What would her parents think if Scott was right with them but they found a strange girl in Scott's room?

And soon Scott's mother opened the door to the room and....
