After arriving at Jon's house, Jon and Karyn quickly ran up the stairs to Jon's room. His mother was running errands, so they'd be undisturbed for what they were going to do.
As soon as they entered, Jon began rapidly tearing through everything in his book shelf, trying to find something suitable.
"Any idea what we're going to use the bookmark on?" Asked Karyn.
"Maybe...no. How about..nah. Oh, yeah, this one!" Jon raised the book over his head like a war trophy.
"Er...what is it?"
"It's an old fantasy novel I read ages ago. I really don't remember much about it, but I figure it's more fun if we don't know the story in advance." Jon replied.
"I don't know...looks kinda corny."
"Well, do you have a better idea?" Jon irritably responded.
"Not really." Karyn shrugged. "Guess we might as well go for it."
"All right. Guess I'll pick a character first, then it's your turn. Wish me luck." Jon opened the book and started to flip through the pages when the bookmark leapt towards the page with so much force that Jon almost lost his grip . Not having expected such a strong reaction, Jon hadn't really even looked at the page the bookmark had latched onto. There was no telling who or what he had inadvertently selected.
"Uh oh..."
