The following morning, Karyn woke to find Ron snuggled up to Hermione, still sleeping. She thought it was very odd how Jon had been acting since they arrived. It was almost as if he was losing himself inside the character, and Karyn had a horrible thought that she may lose her best friend. She couldn't bear the thought of not having Jon around to be her best friend anymore, and she intended to try and keep Jon and Ron apart, or at least from making out, because that was weird.
"Jon!" a vague whispered voice called to her as she felt a nudge. "Jooon!" it called again in a low voice as something jabbed her in the face. Jon cracked her eyes open to see a boy with shaggy brown hair, and a scar above his round glasses. "Wake up!" Karyn said.
Jon tried to squirm out from under Ron's arm and felt a pang of sorrow as she freed herself from his embrace and he grumbled as he continued to sleep.
"Karyn, whats the matter?" Jon said rubbing the sleep from her eyes.
"Jon, I wanted to speak to you alone..." he said as he motioned to the sleeping redhead.
"Why? Whats going on?" Jon asked sitting down in a most decidedly feminine manner.
"That!" Karyn said pointing to Jon. "That right there is the problem, Jon!" he said frustrated as Jon grew more confused.
"What? What the Hell did I do?" she asked.
"Jon, you're acting like a girl!" Karyn whisper yelled. Jon was confused.
"I am?"
"You are! You just sat in the most lady like way I've ever seen, I've never even sat down like that, and I used to BE a girl!"
"Karyn, I think you may have noticed, but I AM a GIRL!" Jon motioned to his girlish body. "I can't help acting like a girl, it's just suddenly natural for me! Trying to act any other way feels weird, and I figure, what the Hell at this point, right? When in Rome, and whatever, right?" Jon argued.
"And that includes snogging with Ron?"
"Well...." Jon was uncomfortable admitting this.
"Well?" Karyn waited for an answer.
"Well...." she paused again, embarrassed. "Yes! It does include snogging Ron!" she spat.
"But... why?" Karyn asked more confused than ever.
"I-I don't know Karyn. It just feels natural, like everything else. I AM Hermione Granger, and Hermione Granger loves Ron, so I love Ron. It's quite simple, really. We are who we appear to be, and for the next week, it seems we are going to act like the people we are."
"But..." Karyn started.
"I'm sorry if it makes you uncomfortable, but think about this..." She started.
"What?"
"Think about Ginny. Think real hard about Ginny Weasley and tell me what you feel." Jon sat, proudly as she looked at Karyn intently.
"I... um....uh...." Karyn stuttered as she shifted uncomfortably.
"Well?" Jon asked, pleased with herself and knowing what Karyn was feeling.
"uh....." Karyn swallowed as she shifted again "I... I don't want to talk about this anymore." Karyn stood up to walk away.
"Karyn, there's no need to be embarrassed, you're a young man, and young men feels that way about young women sometimes." Jon said with a cute smirk.
"That's not funny." Karyn said shooting Jon a glare.
"Lets just forget about it, and move on. Okay?" Jon offered with a friendly smile.
"Okay." Karyn agreed as he sat down at the table across from Jon, in a very boyish manner.
"Our next stop would be with Lovegood," Jon started "But since we already know everything about the Deathly Hallows, that seems like a pointless trip, don't you agree?" Jon offered.
"Makes sense, yeah." Karyn said "We'd only have to try and escape the snatchers anyway, and I really would rather avoid that mess."
"Good. Then, if I remember correctly, We stay another night and listen to the Potterwatch program...."
"And then, we get captured by Snatchers and taken to the Malfoy's" Karyn offered.
"Right, perhaps we can avoid that as well, maybe sneak in and free their captives without a fight..." Jon offered.
"And then we wouldn't have to worry about Voldemort!" Karyn said excitedly.
There was a series of loud cracks as Jon's face drained of color. Ron shot up out of bed by the loud noises, and Karyn realized his mistake, all too late.
"SHIT!" Karyn said.
