"Hmm..." said Scott #2. "I think I'm going to tell Mom and Dad. I'll need the medallion and I'll have to have one of your socks."

"It won't work," said #1, "if you're trying to transform yourself."

"I'm not transforming myself, I'm transforming Mom. It's the only way to prove it. Just stay here and I'll call you when I need you. How does 'Scottie' sound as a name?"

"That's not a name," said #1, "that's 'Scott' with an 'e' on the end."

"Okay, but you need something cute. 'Scarlet' is close. 'Sakura' has the 's' and 'k' sound...."

"I'd strangle you," said #1, "if it wouldn't get Mom and Dad's attention. Anyway, we'd better get back to sleep before they really do notice us. And stop staring at my breasts."

A few hours later, Scott #2 woke up. He got up and woke #1, who crawled out from under the bed. She took the time to try the medallion again, but it didn't work.

"I need the sock," said #2. "And you'd better stay here."

"Don't order me around!" exclaimed #1 as she handed #2 the sock. "I'm you!" Scott #1 opened the Scotts' drawer and unrolled a pair of socks, getting another identical white tube sock to put on her bare foot.

#1 got a handful of tissues and tried sticking them down her pants to keep from bleeding too much. Meanwhile Scott #2 took the medallion and sock downstairs, where his mother and father were already eating breakfast. He poured himself a bowl of cereal and milk while watching his mother nervously. Finally he said, "Mom?"

"Yes, Scott? What is it?"

"That medallion... the one you let me have yesterday. There's something strange about it. I need to show you and Dad."

"What, you're trying to clean it with a sock and now it smells?"

"I'm serious, Mom! I need to show you and the only way I can do this is for you to wear it." He touched the medallion to the sock and was about to put it over his mother's neck when his father grabbed the chain.

"Dad, you'll regret doing that," he said, and let go.

"This doesn't look like anything we had at the sale," he said, turning the medallion over in his hands. Then he put it on, before it had a chance to touch any of his own clothes. "That's funny," he said. "My foot's itching."

"I warned you, Dad," replied Scott. "It'll spread to your leg, then everywhere else."

"It's just a coincidence," he said. "Why would something on my neck make my foot itch?"

"It's magic!" he said. "Look, I never meant for you to get it, but you're turning into a woman now." By now it was obvious his pants were a bit too big on him. "You'd better leave the medallion on if you don't want to be a half girl. I'll tell you and Mom all about it but you have to let me explain without any interruption."

"We don't have to do anything," said his mother.

Scott's father, sitting awkwardly, said "Susan, we'd better listen to his story."

Scott began to explain....

.. and finally finished. He (#2) yelled up the stairs, "Scott, you can come down now!"
By now, Scott's father was completely a redheaded woman, and down the stairs walked another woman, identical in appearance.

"So you're really Scott too?" asked Susan.

"Yeah, I am," replied #1. "Look, I heard you guys upstairs. Neither of us meant to turn Dad into a woman. It just happened."

"I see," said Scott's mother.

"And Mom, please don't tell me you always wanted a daughter, okay?"

"Why would I say something like that?"

"Never mind. Mom, I need to ask you now that you've heard the story--how long do periods last?"

"They can be almost a week long."

"Crap," said #1. "I just hope I was near the end of mine so I can change back soon."

After breakfast was time to open the garage sale again for its second day.

"Don't go out, Dad," said Scott #2.

"I'm not letting some magic spell--of yours, I might remind you--ruin my day," she replied.

"But Dad, what if someone recognizes your body?"

"If you're that worried about the garage sale, why don't you and your sister take my place there?"

"I am not anyone's sister!" exclaimed #1. "And that reminds me. I need to try again." She touched the medallion to Scott #2's clothes and put it on. Would she be able to change back yet?"
