As Karyn looked at Jon she noticed that the mask itself was glowing with power. The unblinking eyes stared at her and she felt a chill run up her spine. Karyn was scared of the mask's tale and thought that if it was true that Jon could be lost.
"Jon just take off that mask now that we know it works. I don't want you to get hurt."
Jon then said something but it did not sound like his voice, it sounded dark and evil.
"It has begun..."
"Jon cut it out you're giving me the creeps."
"The stone...give it to me, I want to see it." Jon continued in the dark voice.
"But...the old man said that the mask and the stone almost brought the end of the world when they were used together." Karyn was really scared now. She didn't know if it was really Jon talking to her.
Jon shook his head for a moment as if clearing his thoughts. He then lifted his hands to his face and took the mask off. "What happened just now?" Jon asked seeming back to normal. but when Karyn looked at his face she knew that something was wrong. His face seemed a little more pale than it was before he put the mask on. He also seemed to have a scoule on his face that gave him some shadow over his eyes.
"What are you looking at?" Jon snapped at Karyn seeming angry for some reason.
"J-Jon, I think that the man's story was true. You seem to be darker than you were before, and I don't think that you should use it anymore."
"Why shouldn't I? This mask can reverse any wish that I make, or any wish that has ever been made!" Jon's eyes seemed to glow orange for a second, just like the mask's eyes did. "Think about it Karyn, with this mask we don't need to wory about careless wishes anymore! We can make them, and if we don't like the outcome we can just reverse it! Don't you see all of our problems with that rock are over!"
Karyn then got up and slapped Jon across the face in one swift movement. Jon just stood there in shock. His face regained it's normal flesh tone and the shadows over his eyes vanished. "Get ahold of your self Jon, that mask is evil. If you put it on again you might be lost in the darkness forever! I don't want that, and I know that you don't want that either."
Just then a faint voice was heard by them both as they heard before. "..put on...the mask...use...the stone...use...mask...stone...together..."
"You see that, that mask is pure evil!" Karyn said trying to get Jon to realalise the truth.
"You..." Jon started to say something to Karyn in his own voice. Karyn turned to Jon to see his eyes full of anger and rage. "YOU BITCH!!! WHY THE HELL DID YOU SLAP ME!!!???"
Karyn backed away from Jon when he said this. Jon clutched his head and fell to his knees as if in pain. "I-I'm sorry Karyn...I-I don't know what happened, as soon as I undid your wish I thought that I was invincible. I thought that I finaly had unlimited power."
Jon then looked up at Karyn with tears in his eyes and Karyn knew that the mask still had him for a little while after he took it off. They were both surprised when they heard a wisper in their ears. "if you want to find ultimate power, why not use the stone to answer your questions. All you have to do is make a wish."
Jon then picked up the stone that had fallen to the ground when Karyn slapped him. He could hear that faint voice saying to him over and over. "...rock...wish...stone...mask...rock...give me...the...rock!!!" Jon shook it off and made a wish. "I wish that I could know why that mask wants to use that rock."
The stone glowed in his hand and one word was placed into his mind. That word was "mana".
Jon was confused at this word. He had heard it used in card games and some RPGs, but why would the stone tell him that word. "I wish that I knew why that word was given to me."
A soft coforting voice then told him why. "Mana is the source of all things living. It is also the source for all magical items. There is mana all around you keeping you alive. As you grow older your mana will tilt depending on your suroundings. If it is good then your mana and yourself will be good. If it is bad then you and your mana will be bad. That mask has the ability to alter the mana in other magical items and people. When it is worn the typ of mana that exists within the one who wears it will be drained and replaced with darkness. The ston is one of the few existing magical items that can produce an eternal amount of mana. If someone wears the mask and holds the stone the mask is able to corupt the person's soule to it's likeing. When that happens the mask then can absorb the person's soule into itself and increce it's dark powers. Then it casts aside the body and waits for it's next victem. When the mast has all of the power it needs it awaits for the rock of eternal mana, or the wishing stone as you would call it. Once it gets that item, it can create a body for itself and use the powers of the rock for itself. Currently the mask is too weak to make itself a body dur to all of the years that it has remaned dorment. It has however gained extensive knowledge about the stone from all of the wishes that have been made using it. the stone however has a history that has been told differently each time by those who tell it."
Jon took a moment to take in what he just heard and wanted to know more about the history of the mask. "I wish I could know more about the time that the mask almost made the moon crash back into the earth."
The rock flashed again and the voice returned to tell him what he wanted to know. "Long ago the mask was burried under the ground by those who knew of it's evil might. Until a wondering mask collector dug it up for his collection. He never wore any of the masks that he had no solid knoldge of or knew the legends behind them. He knew all about the masks from stories he heard all over the land. But he had other masks that he loved to wear. One of these masks made it so he would never fall asleep while it was on, one made it possible to run faster, and another made it so noone would notice you no matter how hard you tried. However while on his travles the mask with an evile past was taken from him by a theif who planed to sell it. He desided to try and wear it because without anything to hold it up, it probably had magic powers to keep it on his face. well this theif had mana that was tilted twards the dark side so it was easy for the mask to take over his body. However it did not know how to take soules away from those who wore it so the theif was a puppet to the mask. The theif however has stolen a strange rock from a traveler that day and that happened to be the rock of mana. The mask could not belive that a common theif would have a powerful rock like that and it instantly knew how it would get his revenge on those who placed it in the ground. Whith the dark powers of the mask and the mana from the rock, it cast a spell on the moon ubove. The moon instantly began to fall. It would take three days to hit the earth so the mask desided to wait ontop of the colck tower in a nearby town. As the days passed the moon continued to fall and only one person dared to clime the clock tower on the third day. That person was a desendant of the knight who killed the wizard that made the mask. The battle was feirse, but in the end it was the knight's desendant who killed the one who wore the mask. The stone flew away from the mask like a commit and was thought to be lost forever. The mask also flew away from the theif, but it landed only outside of the city. There it was found by the mask colector who took it away from the city. The heros bloodline continues today but even I do not know when it will be revealed, for the fighting spirit will be dormant until the time is right. The one who created the mask has his bloodline continued as well and the evil shall awaken in the heart of that person in time. That is all that can be told at this time."
Jon thought for a moment and desided that the mast should not be alowed to harm anyone else. He thought of some way to get rid of it for good when he heard Karyn screem behind him. He turned to see that the mask was glowing, and was no longer on the ground. The faint voice was saying "..rock...rock..ROCK!!" It flew twards his face so that it could be worn by him. Jon was frozen with fear. Karin tried to jump it between the mask and Jon but would she make it in time?
