Suddenly, Jon's mother dashed into the room.
"Oh, my poor sweet baby! Are you alright?" She picked Jon up and rocked him gently, cooing softly to him. "It's okay, sweetie, don't cry, don't cry." Jon tried to tell her that he wasn't crying, but she didn't seem to be listening to him. "Let's get you changed, sweetie, Mommy has things to do today. Maybe you can have a playdate with Karyn later, won't that be fun?"
As she spoke, she lay Jon on the changing table and lifted off his pink pajamas. She then removed his diaper, wiped him down as a precaution (Jon was most uncomfortable with this), put powder on his bottom, and put a fresh diaper on him. "What should my darling wear today?" she said as she wandered away from the changing table, towards Jon's closet.
Jon could not see anything she was looking at from his current position on the changing table, but he heard his mother saying "No, not this one. Not that one," for a while. He was getting very uncomfortable lying there on his back, wearing nothing but a diaper. Eventually, he heard her exclaim "Ooh, this one would be perfectly darling!" Jon knew whatever his mother would call "darling" could not be anything good for him.
Jon's mother walked back over to Jon on the changing table and showed him what she had grabbed from the closet. It was a somewhat short, very pink, and very frilly dress. "Here you go darling," Jon's mother cooed, "You love this dress! And it's perfect, because you look so cute in it, and I've made an appointment for us to meet with someone."
"Mom, no! I'm not meeting anyone dressed in a dress and a diaper!" Jon shouted. His mother, however, payed no heed to his outburst, and continued to force him into the dress.
Once she had finally managed to get it onto him, she opened a drawer underneath the changing table and pulled out a pair of pink socks that looked like they would come up past Jon's knees, with a little lace trim and forced them onto Jon's legs. This she achieved fairly easily, as Jon had expended most of his energy trying to fend off the dress. Jon's mother had also quickly gotten a pair of black Mary-Janes onto his feet while he was tired. She then picked Jon up just as easily as she had the night before, and carried him from the room.
