"Aunt Sharon, to do this transformation I need some of my clothes. I think that's enough."
"What?" asked his aunt. "To change back?"
"Sort of," he replied.
His parents hadn't tried to interfere much so far, but finally his mother said, "Scott, I want you to tell us what you're planning. You're a teenager. You can't have a baby, even if the baby is just like you. You can't walk around as me. What are you going to do when you go back to school this fall? What are you going to tell people? So far we haven't said anything because there isn't anything you can do to make it worse, but you need to think about it."
"I don't think it's going to matter," said Scott.
"Why? What are you planning?"
"It's easy," he said. "The medallion's chain is pretty big. I can put it around both my neck and the baby's neck at the same time. If I touch it to something then, wouldn't we change into one person?"
"I'm not sure that would work," said aunt Sharon.
"I don't know any other way to find out except trying it," said Scott. "If it starts to do something weird, we can take off the medallion, and even if not, we can still reverse it after 12 hours. Aunt Sharon, can you help me?"
She looked to Scott's parents, who at least weren't actively trying to stop Scott. Finally she said, "It's against my better judgment, but okay."
