"Indeed," he interrupted himself. "I know precisely how the Naryanne's Coin works... Firstly, two people must ask for wishes before any will be granted. Then the coin should be flipped-"

"-and on landing the wish that is imprinted to whichever side is face-up is then granted!"

"Yes quite. But I was speaking."

"Does it matter?"

"Well it does to me, yes. Now about the coin, the first wish to be spoken into it is imprinted on heads, and the second is tails. One should also remember that two different people must make the wishes, since the coin will only listen to the first wish from any single person until it receives a wish from another. Now was there anything else?"

"Ah yes. The two wishes have to be different wishes!"

"Well done that man. Otherwise, the coin will... will..."

"Change one of-"

"-Don't help me! Change one of the wishes to be the exact opposite in meaning, is that right?"

"Don't ask me, I can't remember for sure. That might have been some other magical wish-granting item!"

"Could be... Well it either does that, or it just ignores the second wish and waits to receive another instead. It's one or the other."

"Or both."

"Or both, indeed. Regardless, I'm sure those two youngsters will figure out that little plaything eventually, and best of luck to them."

"Quite literally!"

"Quite. Now am I forgetting anything...?"

The old shopkeeper chuckled and continued to mutter to himself as he went about dusting the shelves around him.

A short time later, Jon and Karyn
