"Are you sure that's wise?" said the older Scott from outside the door.
Sally (in Scott's body) opened the door. "Hey!" she said. "You were listening!"
"Yes, I was listening," said older Scott. "Do you think you had me fooled for a moment? You didn't swap, you changed sex."
"But we're the same," said Sally. "If we change sex, it's the same as swapping."
"Except for one difference," said older Scott, "your ears are pierced. Scott's ears aren't. Besides, I know both of you wanted to do a change, so why did only one of you claim to have changed? What did the other one do?"
"Oh," said Sally.
"Now," said older Scott, "do you really want to just leave someone you're going on a date with, with a fake?"
"I don't want to go on a date with a boy!" exclaimed Sally. "I just said 'yes' to stop people from talking about me."
"You're not gay, are you?" asked Scott (in Sally's body).
Sally didn't answer.
Older Scott sighed. "Sally, I wonder if this whole thing is my fault. You're both the same person. I just made you a girl because I thought it would be nice to have one of each... Besides, that way it would be possible to tell you apart. But you're still just like us two. You keep your hair so close to ours that you didn't need to change it for the swap, you wear lots of pants, you like girls, not boys..."
"What?" said Sally. "No, Dad, it's fine. I'm used to being a girl, in modern times girls can do the same things boys do anyway. I can be as similar to Scott as I want."
"But," said older Scott, "you wanted to change into a boy just now, right?"
"Well, yes," said Sally. "I feel at least I should try it. Besides, we have twelve hours left before we can change, so I can't change back before the date. What do you suggest, Mom?"
"It's 'Dad'. But you know, that's a good question." He thought and said "I suggest that...."
