"Actually," Karyn said. "I was thinking of something a little less life-threatening, like guessing a number from 1 to 10, or something."
"Okay, what am I thinking of?"
"No. Write it down, so I know if it works or not."
"Okay." Jon took out a pen and wrote on a piece of paper the number he picked. "I got it. What is it?"
"Nine."
"That's right!" Jon wrote down another number and looked up with a smile. He wrote down a number that was not between 1 and 10, just to throw Karyn. "How about now?"
"Twenty-six."
Jon was shocked. "That's right. Wait, why did you pick that number?"
"I saw you smiling and thought you might have put something down that wasn't from 1 to 10. I guess I was right."
"You didn't look, did you?"
"No, of course not. But this shows us that the necklace works. I really do have good luck. In fact, I have the best luck."
"So, what now?"
