Karyn didn't expect much to happen at all, despite her experience with the magic rock. Instead, she stood in shock as she saw Jon's clothing change from jeans and a t-shirt to something more appropriate for a 40-something mother: a light, peach colored blouse and casual but feminine capri pants. His features softened, and his posture shifted, but it still looked like Jon. He was now Karyn's mother.
"I guess that things a dud, hun," Jon said, not noticing anything out of the ordinary. "But I guess it would help if you actually told a lie."
"What? What do you mean?"
"Well, you said I was your mother. But I've always been your mother. I don't know why I even let you go into that strange shop."
"But... you're Jon!"
This time, nothing changed. He still was Jon, but now also Karyn's mother, since Karyn had said "Jon, you are my mother" the bracelet made the entire statement true: being both Jon and Karyn's mother.
"I know my own name, sweetie. Normally you just call me mom. Why don't you give me that bracelet, I think you're getting a bit too excited over nothing. We should get home soon, anyway. I still have some gardening to do."
Before Karyn could say anything, her mother slipped the bracelet from Karyn's arm and into the purse that had appeared moments ago. This was all very strange to Karyn. Jon was acting just as her mother would. Could she fix it? And what happened to her real mother?
