Megan thought about her life and how boring it was. She thought this was the best life she could possibly live, having been born as a red headed, blue eyed, White woman. Becoming a housewife and mother was what was expected of her. Sure she could have attempted to be more , but only if she were to thumb her nose at her traditional values family. Her destiny until this point was to basically be a wife who taught Sunday School and raised a family. Sure she was proud of her daughter and two boys and loved Baptist minister husband, but she wanted some excitement in her life and was willing to walk away from it all to get it. Making up her mind that she was going to steal the life of someone of a different race or ethnicity, she looked at Hayden and asked, " Is there a way for me to swap with someone outside of this building?"
Hayden smiled and reached under her desk , pulling out what appeared to be a cheap plastic squirt gun. " Yes. Yes there is. Is there a particular someone whom you know that you would like to become? We can just send a couple of minions to bring them in if that's the case." she asked.
" I can't tell you a specific person. I'm sorry... all I know is that I will know them when I see them." you responded before adding." I think I would like to become someone from a different country and ethnicity, or maybe just someone from around town. It's...well I don't really know. I'm like a kid in a candy store at the moment."
" Calm down Mrs. Johns. I know exactly how you feel. I was a six and a half foot tall Black man before I discovered this place and settled down into the petite Blonde body I have now." Hayden said as she winked . " I feel like the woman I should have always been now. I am sure you will find a form to match your true self too."
" Wow!" Megan replied. " I hope so. I know I wasn't really cut out for the life I have now. I was meant for more." she said confidently.
" Here, " Hayden said as she extended her hand with the toy gun out to you, " This will give you the life you want. It is an original invention of FDBSE just for people like you. We call it the Spirit Separator. When you find the body you want to live in just point and fire." Hayden explained.
" Won't it be dangerous to have some random person wind up in my body with a body swap gun?" You ask , thinking about the chaos that could ensue.
" Its a variation of a body swap ray we once developed, with safeguards added of course.. We had a lot of trouble putting that genie back in the bottle." Hayden stated. " This will expel the targets mind from their body and replace it with yours. You will have just enough of their memories to pass as them but their soul or spirit will not be there. It will also leave your body as an empty husk , programmed to return here with the device immediately. Once it arrives we will take it down to our inventory , where it will be placed in stasis until it is sold to someone who wants your life. Everybody wins...except the target of course." she added almost offhandedly.
You take the offered device from her hand and wonder for a moment just who would want your boring old life, but the thought is gone almost as fast as it came. It didn't really matter , you decided. All you knew was that you were being offered the chance to become the person you wanted to be and that you darn well knew you were going to take it. " Thanks Hayden. I don't know how I ever will be able to repay you. " you say.
" Just go and pick a good life for yourself. One that will make you happy. After all that is why we are here... to give people the life they always wanted. Take your time and pick well.
