Note: This particular branch of the story is based off of a Deviantart work whose author I can't entirely remember (I think it was Zorua?). That story never really continued past a point, so I thought I'd take a stab at my own take on it.

"I choose transformation as my power." I said to the entity.

Thank thee. I will now granteth thy power as thy desires. With a flash it disappears.

I awoke to my alarm that was always there. "That was a strange dream." I mumbled to myself. Getting out of bed, I walked over to my bathroom and washed my face. "What did it mean by my desire?" My idea of transformation was changing into someone else who had supernatural powers, like that would ever happen. Still, I couldn't shake the feeling that it was real to some extent and as a result, my curiosity prompted me to try what I had unknowingly been granted.

Seeing the water still running from the tap, I decided that would be a good test. I focused on the idea of controlling water and tried changing the form and appearance of the water. At first nothing seemed to work, yet I could feel something happening. As I kept at it, I thought I saw the water stop for a moment, thinking it was the plumbing I decided to force the water upward, trying to change the way gravity affects it. Because it was impossible for such a thing to happen, surely this will disprove... I stared at my faucet as the water repeatedly kept hitting the ceiling. Thinking quickly, I hurriedly turned off the tap only to still see the roof covered in water. Now aware of the reality of my power, I grew afraid of it and slowly started to panic as I attempted to recreate that same experience to reverse the water flow. Thankfully, everything turned out smoothly, well most of it anyway. My bathroom ceiling was still wet, but everything else was functioning properly, once I got a handle on my powers. It felt almost exactly as I had pictured, which felt eerily coincidental.

I sighed heavily as I went to look at the mirror, only to freeze in my tracks. Staring back at me was a woman with long hair, blue eyes and an average female body. Her hair looked fluid and glossy as if it flowed like the water itself and her eyes seemed to be as deep as the ocean. When it finally hit me that this was my appearance, I nearly screamed, stopping myself just after I realized that I wasn't the only one in this house. I silently gazed at my own reflection in awe, then shortly realized that no one would recognize me like this. Trying hard not to look at my own appearance in the mirror I pace back and forth trying to figure out if there was a way I could transform back.

"Clearly this is the work of that thing." My voice came out in a high pitch bubbly tone, which contrasted with the contempt I was trying to voice. It was then that I realized that my outfit had also changed. Instead of the male clothes I used to wear, I had a loose yet form fitting dress that flowed with my movements with ease as if mimicking me. A possible solution dashed through my mind and I raced to my dresser to see if my other outfits had also changed. To my dismay, nothing of my clothes were different than the ones I remember having.

"Think!" I scolded myself. "What did that thing say?" Recalling the exact words, I repeated them to myself. "I will now granteth thy power as thy desires." I paused at that last part. "As thy desires?" I facepalmed as I came to a realization. "Of course it would mix those two desires. But, how do I change back?"

Recalling the old me and the idea that I would never be him again brought tears to my eyes. They came faster than I wanted them to and just started to flow down my cheeks. I sat down behind my bed and wept bitterly as I now truly understood how different I was and it was terrifying. I was alone, afraid, stuck in an unknown body and gained a power I never really asked for. I couldn't handle the weight of this all at once, so I cried tears of anger, sadness and bitterness all rolled into one. It was suffocating me so much so that I didn't hear the door to my room open, until the invader put her hand on my back.

Startled, I jumped up and turned around. Standing before me was my mother, looking apologetic to my problems which confused me even further as I thought she'd be taken aback. Maybe my theory that everyone knows me regardless of my appearance is true? I just stared at her, not wanting to even hear my own voice.

"I know it's hard Chris. I can't imagine what you must be going through, but I'm here for you if you ever need advice on how to move forward." She smiled like she always did. That smile said she was waiting on me, never wanting to make a move of her own.

Forcing down the retort that she should just kick me out, I instead just reply. "Yea, I know." Surprising myself at how masculine it sounded.

"Okay, well take your time. I'm sure you'll be on your own two feet in no time." My mom said in passing as she left my room silently.

I slowly walked toward my bathroom, unsure of what I'd find. I edged myself up to the corner of the mirror just to see my face, before falling into silence as I begin to slowly show the rest of me on the other side of the glass. Shock begins to change into relief as I realize I'm back to normal. Thinking back on it, all I really did was recall my old self before my mom entered.

"So it really is exactly how I wanted it. It really did give me exactly what I desired." I sigh at my own perverseness. "Why was I thinking about transforming into girls then? Literally anything else would have been better." I would have rather had any other form of transformation other than this. This feels like an invasion of privacy to women everywhere. Then again, thinking back on feeling what it was like to be a girl, it felt... normal? Almost like I had always been like that. "Maybe I'm just overthinking this like I always do. Maybe that thing doesn't take emotions as a factor and only acts on pure desires." I sigh one last time as I let the relief wash over me, almost forgetting what time it is. "AH! That's right! I was meeting a friend today."

I look over at the clock and see that it's almost noon. I groan at my lack of consistency for my own sleep schedule. I hurriedly get ready to go by taking a shower, changing clothes and eating something small on my way out so I'm not starving by the time I get there. "By mom!" I call out behind me as the front door closes she's used to this by now as I hear a muffled goodbye beyond the door.

Even though it's only been a year since I've dropped out of college, I tend to go meet several of my old college buddies, who for some reason, ended up in a similar situation I did. I don't know the full stories, but they all seemed to drop out shortly after I did. Today I'm meeting the only friend who will make time for me every single day. He said he was going to bring his sister today who also just so happens to be starting college soon. When I mentioned they didn't seem that far apart in age, he just laughed and joked that I was the same way with my siblings. While not untrue, I thought they were a lot closer than we were by how he spoke of her, so I couldn't help but be excited to see her as I weaved through traffic. When I arrived at the arranged meeting spot, I noticed that I had changed into that girl somewhere along the way. "I gotta figure out how to control that." I commented to myself.

Watching my own transformation into myself was a little freaky, but I had to make sure it went through all the way, since I didn't know whether or not I was still recognizable in public. I got out of the car after triple checking my appearance which seemed much more like a girl thing than I was used to doing and walked into the store. It was the typical fast food chain restaurant with many greasy options on the menu, but I only really came here for the drinks as did a lot of other people, so I couldn't really say I was different from everyone else. Curiously, as I got my drink, a random girl kept waving me over to an empty booth. Not wanting to disappoint her, I walked over to her and sit down in the booth.

"Do you need something from me?" I asked politely.

"Are you Chris?" She replies

"Yeah?" I say cautiously.

"Oh, good. Daymund gave me a picture of you, but I didn't know how old it was so I was scared I'd get the wrong person." She paused as she looks at the screen, "Still there seems to be some parts that are off. See?"

She points her phone in my face and I see a picture of myself that we took a few days ago. I quickly take out my own phone and try to discreetly check my appearance. Surprisingly, she was right, there were parts that were off. I scrolled through my own phone and found that same image on it, internally sighing in relief when I found it. Realizing I was in my own thoughts, I hastily give her a response. "P-probably just something to do with the lighting. Are you Naomi?" I mention as I imagine myself just like the image on the screen.

"Hm? Oh yeah, sorry. I was too caught up in this image that I forgot to tell you my name." She pauses as if trying to be professional. "Hi, I'm Naomi, Daymund's sister." She holds out her hand.

I awkwardly take it, "I'm Chris." I look around. "So is Daymund here?"

"He got called into work."

"Work? He's doing better than I am."

Naomi laughs. "Actually, he says all the time that it's because of you that he decided he needed to get a job."

"Really?"

She imitates his speech. " 'If I ever end up like him, I'd never want to see the light of day again.' Is basically what he said."

I smile uncomfortably. "Well that does sound like decent motivation."

She stops suddenly.

Hiding the fear in my voice I hesitantly ask, "What's wrong?"

She squints at her phone as alarm bells go off in my head. "Is it just me or is this picture now frighteningly accurate?"

My heart caves, "Um, it's just the difference in lighting?" I point outside, "See it's cloudy now, it was sunny just before we were talking."

She shakes her head. "No, this feels different. It's almost like you changed?" Naomi says skeptically.

What do I do here? Should I tell her or should I keep trying to hide it?

I decided to...
