"Um, John..." Lauren said, with a strange gleam in her eye. "We, um..."
"Weren't joking," Lisa finished. "And we weren't just interested in Erin, big boy."
John and Erin boggled. John came out of it first. "I thought you were a lesbian, Lauren. You know, Lauren the lezzie, and whatnot..."
"I say I'm a lesbian because unlike Lisa, I only fall in love with women...but while I do genuinely prefer girls, I can make the occasional exception."
John slowly turned to look at Erin, with the fear that the revelation--and implied proposal--at hand would have her scared off blatantly obvious in his expression.
