After school Jon and Karyn met up at his house. Jon sat his desk and Karyn sat facing him. Neither spoke for a bit, they just stared at the stone in Jon's hand. Finally, Karyn couldn't take it any more.

"Are we going to do something, Jon-boy, or just stare at a rock all afternoon?" she asked.

"I'm a little nervous about what the rock can do," Jon said after a moment.

"Why don't we see how it works on us. Wishes affect reality and can only be altered, not reversed, right? Maybe if we play around with that aspect we can find a loophole to get rid of my new enhancements," Karyn said, mentioning to her blonde hair and enlarged chest.

"Hmm, that could be interesting. I've been thinking that if we put time limits and loopholes into wishes we can get away with using the stone more. Like, I wish that until I say otherwise, my sister Zoe will become a fan of smooth jazz and detest all the goth metal emo crap she currently enjoys."

Jon felt the stone warm in his hand as he and Karyn were forced to look away for a moment. Suddenly the loud bass thumping the wall between Jon and his sister's room faded as a screeching guitar lick warped into a smooth saxophone solo. Jon was surprised by how natural the shift in reality was, how the metal music just became jazz with no transition.

"Ok, now what?"

"Now we see if there was a ripple effect that altered other aspects of reality," Jon said.

He stood up and headed out to Zoe's room with Karyn following. When he got there he was surprised to find his sister's door open. The biggest shock was the change in Zoe herself, though. She was no longer the goth girl she'd grown into the last couple of years. No, this Zoe was a full on band nerd complete with slightly mousey hair and braces. Even more surprising was that the music was actually Zoe playing the sad instead of coming from the radio.

Some looked up and saw them watching and smiled. "Hey, bro," she said as she stopped playing, "I hope you don't mind, I have to practice for orchestra. We're doing my favorite Kenny G song!"

Jon almost fainted. His sister was slurping as if talking through a retainer and her voice had taken on a slightly higher pitch with a somewhat nasal quality that made her sound like she was whining.

"Whoa, this is too weird. Zoe, it's ok to be a fan of that death metal emo stuff," Jon said.

"I know, Jon. But it's just so dark. I really prefer jazz to stuff with a heavy bass like that."

Jon started to panic then had an idea. "Otherwise," he said.

Suddenly, Zoe seemed to ripple before them. She morphed back into the angry goth teen that Jon loved. The death metal resumed as if it had never stopped.

"What the fuck is wrong with you two," Zoe muttered as she slammed her door in their face.
