Zoe walked up to her friend Athena's house and knocked on the door. If there was anyone who could help her, it was Athena.
The door opened and Zoe walked right in, without even asking permission. But why should she? She came over almost every day.
"Excuse me," Athena's mom said. "Who exactly are you?"
"Mrs. DeVries. It's me, Zoe. I need to see Athena."
"Are you one of her friends?"
"Of course I am. I come here almost every day," Zoe said.
"I've never seen you here."
"Who are you?" Athena asked, walking into the room, dressed in her usual get-up - a tattered black dress, red corset, and fishnet gloves.
"Athena, what's wrong with you?" Zoe looked at both of them. "What's wrong with both of you?"
"It's obvious my daughter doesn't know you, so you're going to have to leave. Now."
"But ..."
Athena's mom grabbed Zoe's arm and pulled her towards the door. She watched as Athena gave her an annoyed look and then left the room. After getting thrown out, Zoe was even more confused than ever. What had happened? How come they didn't recognize her? Athena and Zoe had been friends for at least five years. They were almost like family.
Jon figured that the first place to look for the stone should be Sarah's house. Since Sarah didn't have it with her, that was the next best place to look.
