They weren't just packing things...they were packing people!
Ada was wheeled out next, leaving her as the only one left in the house, aside from the strangers.
Sarah ran out of the house, and through the open gate to the street. She tried ringing the door of the house across the street and calling for help...no answer. She spotted a car in the middle of the street, and hurried up to it. The car was dead, and the driver was asleep at the wheel.
The streetlights around her house seemed to work, but her house was the only one lit up. Whatever was going on, they controlled the power to the entire town. As someone who considered herself the Queen Bee of the High School, and her family rather prominent in town, she wasn't used to feeling like someone more powerful was at foot.
She turned back to her own house, deciding that the only thing she could do was watch to see what was going on there. She passed through the gate to see the Workmen closing the door on one truc, which started up and drove away before being replaced, like clockwork, with another truck. She wandered back inside.
She went around, watching them remove items from everywhere in the house, patch holes in walls and repaint, unsure of what to do.
And then, she spotted new boxes arriving and being unpacked. And finally, she spotted...people being wheeled in as well...She was surprised at what she saw.
