Jon hadn't been into Scandinavian music, but he had been into music, and choir practice started in another hour. The school's band room was being refurbished, so all the normal music activities that would take place in there were being held in the city's community center for the rest of the year, with the scheduling changing accordingly so that students could get there. Luckily for Jon, the community center was just down the street from his house, so he had an hour to relax.

He didn't really feel any different. Maybe the wish hadn't done anything? Would he have to listen to Zoe's music to notice something?

Jon tried to put the wish out of his mind. He didn't want to try to counter-act it until he knew what was happening, and so far nothing was happening. So after an hour of waiting expectantly, Jon left again like normal and made his way over to the community center.

Unfortunately, the change in locations had scared off a lot of the choir members. Convenience was a big factor in people showing up, apparently, and "something to do instead of going home" was more convenient than "going home for a little and then going back to somewhere else."

The choir had shrunk from fifty students down to twenty. Jon was one of the four vocal baritones that served as the choir's basses, in addition to which there were three tenors, six altos, and seven sopranos.

Or so Jon thought.

When he sat down in his normal seat on the left side of the arc of chairs, Mr. Mocher gave him an odd look. "Why are you sitting with the basses, Jon? You know you're our star soprano."

"Soprano?" Jon asked, then did a double-take. His voice was, well, a girl's. And from his mild musical training, he was pretty sure it was a soprano's voice. What? It was almost enough to throw him off of the other bit from Mr. Mocher's statement: "star soprano." Jon had never had a solo in his life, and he liked it that way. What was this with the sudden "star" talk?

It must have been that wish, but why these changes? What was happening? Maybe to like Zoe's music, he would have to be more like Zoe?

Jon self-consciously slunk over to the other side of the chairs and sat down. He still wasn't sure what was going on, but he'dtry and figure it out.
