As Sarah McMillan drove her convertible down the street, she reminisced her perfect date with Biff Meadows the previous night. She had hoped that it would be a night to remember, and it was. It seemed that ever since she found that blue sapphire jewel, things had been turning her way. Of course just being Sarah McMillan, things usually went her way anyway. But this was different. It almost seemed ... magical.
She wouldn't have even noticed it if it hadn't been glistening in the sun. The moment it caught her eye, she just had to have it. Sarah had a thing for expensive items, and that included this too. Yeah, it wasn't a diamond, but still ...
The box it was in already had a hole in it, probably damaged in transit. All Sarah did was widen the gap enough to grab the gemstone. When she did, she recognized the posting address. It was for Crazy Jane, that witch woman that lived a couple streets over from her. She felt like something as luxurious as the gemstone didn't belong in the hands of someone as crazy as that witch. So she decided to take it. It wasn't stealing, anyway. It looked like the box had been sitting in the brush for days and no one had picked it up. So, finders keepers.
And it was a good thing she snatched it too, because every day since has been luckier than the last. And to make sure she always had it with her, she got a jeweler to make it into a necklace. Now it would always be with her wherever she went.
