When Sarah came back home later that afternoon, the sense that something wasn't quite right lingered with her. But everything seemed as normal as ever. She was still an average tomboy-ish girl who lived in her middle-class house with her mom (Linda), dad (Roger), sister (Zoe), and little brother (Mikey). She was still into video games and had a crush on Biff Meadows, the star quarterback of the high school football team, but he'd never look her way. He'd much rather date someone more in his league, like one of the cheerleaders. Not Karyn Black, though. Not only was she a lesbian, but she was also in a relationship already, with the most popular girl in school - Lillian McMillan.

Sarah had had a run-in with Lillian earlier that day at the school library. She couldn't quite remember what they had talked about, but it was then that her feeling of unease had started. She shrugged. Whatever. Right now, it didn't really matter all that much, because she was finally back home. And that meant that she could use the wishing stone again.

Opening her nightstand drawer, she retrieved the stone that she had inherited from her late grandfather, knowing exactly what wish to make. "I wish ..."
