"Hmm..." said Karyn, carefully considering her options. "Why don't we bring it to school tomorrow and see what fun we can have with it there? You can wish us into the same classes- or better yet, why don't you wish that just for tomorrow, no one at school will have any expectations of where we're supposed to be? You know, so kids won't be surprised when we show up places we wouldn't normally go, and teachers won't be surprised when we don't come to class."
"Sounds good!" said Jon. "I wish that just for tomorrow, at school, no one will think we're out of place, no matter where we are." Karyn nodded.
"Good thinking," she said, "that pretty much covers it all. Tomorrow's gonna be a very interesting day." Karyn grinned, a mischievous gleam flashing in her eye. Jon smiled.
"I know that look," he said, grinning. After knowing her all those years, Jon knew that the look Karyn was giving him meant she had something really special in mind. The last time he had seen her with that expression, they managed to trick the varsity quarterback into thinking he was being haunted by a vengeful spirit for a solid week. They had had to make a very quick getaway once he figured it out, but after that he had been too embarrassed to bring it up again and they were safe, having pulled off one of the greatest pranks in the history of their high school. Karyn winked, reminiscing about the same event.
"I have some work to do," she said. "I'll see you tomorrow." Jon bid her goodbye with a salute and returned to his house. That night, Jon barely slept. He was too excited to find out what his best friend had planned for their newfound power. When his alarm went off, he smiled. After using the rock to wish that he would feel well-rested, he jumped out of bed and got ready for school faster than his mother had ever seen. She gave him an odd look after she kissed him on the cheek on his way out the door, shaking her head. Teenagers sure were unpredictable.
Jon met up with Karyn on his way to school and fell into step beside her.
"Got the gun?" she asked. Jon showed it to her, grinning. "Excellent. So, where to?"
